Birthday Poem

Meg wrote me a poem for my birthday, it's called Color Me Blind...
To whom it may concern,

Filling pockets with shamrocks and smoking,
cinnamon cigars to leave saffron aftertastes whilst;
sewing cornflowers onto buttons only to be,
stripped and cloaked purple.

Committing arson to watch July fireworks 'till,
midnight bells threaten, singing;
seven shades of white by the thirteenth sorry’ beneath,
a champagne horizon.

Painting scarlet letters to mute cello strings where,
Clare and Lucy sleep under prussian domes, whistling;
just when the Northern lights bursts so,
you would color me blind, in Halifax.
Don't ask me, I have no idea what it means. Care to decipher? :)

I think she meant..

"To whoever lar,

some pockets with smoke.. (i think she forget to lid off the left-over cigar before putting into the pocket.. she smoke meh?)
Some cigars make of cinnamon.. (some kind of wood lar.. smells nice wan lar)..
sew some flower to the buttons..
something naked something purple colour..

see fireworks until midnight lor..
then bells ring so loud until ppl scared.. then start singing..;
seven types of different white by today (coz today friday the 13th mar)..
sorry under something lar..
then champagne horizon..

put letters with colours to the cello that cannot come out sound wan..
then her friend Clare and Lucy fell asleep lor.. (i think they can't understand her crap lar)..
then sleep until can whistling.. maybe snoring.. (who knows??)
the lights from north.. (sun ah?) come out..
she see grey and white after that..
that time somewhere in Halifax lar.. (new mamak stall around there ah?)

Somehow it loses something in that translation! ;-)

May I suggest that they're metaphors? ;-)

LOL! 3 cheers to daniel! cant stop laughing. ur original man..:D

Gosh, I think I might actually know what she's saying. I think she's talking about a big celebration. Filling ur pockets with flowers n cigar probably? cigar is sometimes given as a sign of congratulatory. what you're having on is stripped and cloaked purple...she probably meant: to put on ur best clothes..as you are the main 'celebrant'-someone important.

she goes all out, even difficulties would not stop her frm joining this joyous celebration. celebrating for as long as she can-joyously. then, i think she talks about a new year has risen (horizon) for you..a celebration.

Next, she's probably saying that the deco/garnishing of this event is so massive that it quietens the voices of ppl...whistling (waiting 4 something exciting to happen?).. and finally saying this great event would definitely 'blind' her (massive lights prolly) as it will be such a great,momentous event.

p/s:this is my personal understanding of this poem. it may differ from others.

While I have no idea what it means either, I actually like it. I don't know, I find it nice...

And "stripped and cloaked purple" sounds like Jesus.
